                     Event: COVID 19 in Venezuela

    • Country-Specific Information:
      • On March 11, 2019, the U.S. Department of State announced the withdrawal of diplomatic personnel from U.S. Embassy Caracas. All consular services, routine, and emergency, are suspended until further notice. The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in Venezuela.
      • On March 19, 2020, the U.S. Department of State updated its Global Health Advisory Level 4: Do Not Travel: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/travel-advisory-alert-global-level-4-health-advisory-issue.html
      • Venezuela has confirmed cases of COVID-19 within its borders.
      • A nationwide quarantine is in effect. The order prohibits movement between states with the exception of people that work in the transportation industry, security, healthcare, and food delivery.

      Entry and Exit Requirements:

      • Visit the interim government of Venezuela’s COVID-19 website for additional information.
      • On March 13, 2020, the Maduro regime announced the quarantine of all inhabitants of Venezuela and all people should practice social distancing.  On March 16, 2020, restrictions were put in place so that personnel could not move between the different states and cities in Venezuela.
      • On March 12, 2020, Maduro announced the suspension of flights between Colombia and Venezuela. On March 17, Maduro suspended all international travel until April 13. Land borders with Brazil and Colombia are closed. These restrictions have been extended until June 12, 2020.
      • Travelers should be prepared for additional travel/movement restrictions to be put into effect with little or no advance notice.
