The American Citizen Services Unit of the U.S. Embassy in Caracas will travel to Margarita Island on Friday, May 4th, 2018, to provide services to U.S. citizens living in the city and surrounding areas. U.S. citizens may take advantage of this opportunity to:
- Renew a U.S. passport
- Notarize a document that will be used in the United States
- Learn how to register in the State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)
Appointments are required. You may schedule an appointment by emailing ACSvenezuela@state.gov. Please note that preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated medical needs or special circumstances that make travel to Caracas difficult. In addition, passport renewals will be given priority over notary services.
To help us serve you more efficiently, please review the American Citizen Services section of the Embassy’s webpage for information about required documents. Applicants must bring originals and one set of copies of all documents with their application. Those without document copies cannot receive services. Please note that, depending on the case, Embassy officials reserve the right to request that you appear in person at the Embassy to further discuss your application. Please note that the officials cannot answer questions about immigrant or non-immigrant visas.

Passport Delivery: You will be notified via email when your passport has arrived. Passport applicants may retrieve their new passport at the Embassy in Caracas or via Zoom courier service.
If you wish to have your documents delivered by Zoom’s private courier services, please indicate this preference at the time of interview and pay Zoom upon delivery of the document to the office you indicated in your passport interview.
Zoom fees are based on the document’s weight. Applicants should expect to be charged accordingly for the documents they receive. The cost may vary depending on the location of delivery. Please be advised that all fees for this service are subject to change per Zoom’s internal policies. For further information regarding the cost, please visit Zoom web page: www.grupozoom.com.
Important Information Regarding the Receipt of your Passport: It is the applicant’s responsibility to claim his/her passport. Any undelivered passports will be returned to the embassy and will not be sent back out for delivery. Once the embassy receives an undeliverable passport, the applicant must come to the embassy to pick it up. Applicants have 90 days to receive their passports – via Zoom or pick-up from the embassy – from the day the passports arrive at the U.S. Embassy in Caracas. Passports not received within 90 days will be cancelled and returned to the Department.
