Message for U.S. Citizens: U.S. Embassy Consular visit to Merida on November 17, 2014

Consular officials from the American Citizen Services Unit of the U.S. Embassy in Caracas will visit Merida on Monday, November 17th, 2014, to provide services to U.S. citizens living in the city and surrounding areas.

U.S. citizens may take advantage of this opportunity to:

  • Renew a U.S. passport
  • Apply for a U.S. passport for the first time
  • Learn how to apply for a Social Security number
  • Notarize a document that will be used in the United States
  • Learn how to register in the State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)

The officials will be at the Centro Venezolano Americano de Mérida (CEVAM), located at Prolongación Av. 2 – Lora, esquina calle 43, No. 1-55, Urb. El Encanto. Services will be provided from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Services will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.  Applicants should bring originals and one set of copies of all documents presented.  To help us serve you more efficiently, please review the American Citizen Services section of the Embassy’s webpage for information about the requirements and fees associated with the above-referenced services.  Please note that, depending on the case, Embassy officials reserve the right to request you appear in person at the Embassy for an appointment.

Fees for consular services must be paid with a cashier’s check made payable to “U.S. Disbursing Officer.”  Please remember to bring the check and a copy with you.

Passport applicants may retrieve their new passport at the Embassy in Caracas or via Zoom courier service.

If you wish to have your passport or CRBA delivered by Zoom’s private courier services, please indicate this preference at the time of interview and pay Zoom upon delivery of the document to the mailing address you indicated in your passport interview.

Cost: At the moment, Zoom will charge Bs. 81, 00 for the delivery of one passport or one CRBA or one passport and CRBA in the Metropolitan Area (Caracas, Charallave, Guarenas, Los Teques, Maiquetía, Maracay y San Juan de los Morros).  Zoom will charge Bs. 150, 00 for the delivery of one passport or one CRBA or one passport and CRBA to the remaining cities and states in Venezuela.  Applicants should expect to be charged accordingly for the receipt of additional passports and CRBAs.  Please be advised that all fees for this service are subject to change per Zoom’s internal policies.

Important Information Regarding the Receipt of your Passport: It is the applicant’s responsibility to claim his/her passport. Any undelivered passports will be returned to the embassy and will not be sent back out for delivery. Once the embassy receives an undeliverable passport, the applicant must come to the embassy to pick it up. Applicants have 90 days to receive their passports – via Zoom or pick-up from the embassy – from the day the passports arrive at the U.S. Embassy in Caracas. Passports not received within 90 days will be cancelled and returned to the Department.

U.S. citizens who wish to consult with our consular team during this visit should bring their U.S. passports as identification.
