Event: October 13 Update for U.S. Citizens and LPRs in Venezuela 

The Venezuelan Civil Aviation Authority (INAC) restrictions on international and domestic commercial flights in Venezuelan airspace have been extended to November 12, 2020. 

We encourage all U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents who are interested in a humanitarian flight to register their interest via the form at http://rebrand.ly/VNZRepat/ as soon as possible.  If you submitted your data in this form previously, you do not need to resubmit it – we still have your information and will contact you if a flight becomes available.  Each traveler must fill out a separate form – one form per passenger, even if traveling as a family.  

The land border with Colombia remains closed.  The Government of Colombia announced September 30 that the closure had been extended until November 1.  Attempts to illegally cross the land border to Colombia could result in fines, arrest, and/or increase your vulnerability to crime, including kidnapping.  U.S. citizens and LPRs are subject to all local laws and regulations, including curfews and quarantines.  Colombia has resumed limited international commercial flights, though there are currently no scheduled flights between Colombia and Venezuela. 

The Department of State’s Travel Advisory for Venezuela has been “Level 4 – Do Not Travel” since February 2019, and the U.S. Embassy in Caracas suspended operations in March 2019.  The U.S. government has extremely limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in Venezuela.  Because of this, the U.S. government cannot arrange transportation, lodging, or provide emergency financial assistance to U.S. citizens in Venezuela.
