TRANSIT VISA INTERVIEWS

Thousands of travelers are affected by airline suspensions between Venezuela and Panama. In order to facilitate travel through the United States, the U.S. Embassy in Caracas advises stranded travelers that emergency transit visa interview appointments are available.

The Department of State is committed to facilitating legitimate travel for international visitors by issuing visas to qualified applicants.

To apply for a transit visa travelers must provide the following at the interview:

1) Proof of a canceled flight to/from/or through Panama between April 6 and April 23, 2018;

2) Confirmation of a flight routing that transits the United States;

3) Permission to enter the country of final destination; and

4) Evidence of residency and strong ties to the applicant’s country of residence.

To request an emergency appointment, applicants must complete the fill out the DS-160, pay the consular fee and then complete the Expedited Request Form online at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ve_es/ve-niv-expeditedappointment.asp. It is important to note that you are requesting an expedited appointment as a result of a cancelled flight.
